Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Nurse (LVN / LPN)

Job Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical
• Shift Options:

  • 3 shifts per 2-week pay period, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • 4 shifts per 2-week pay period, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6 (may fluctuate with census and call-ins)
• EMR System: Meditech
• Scheduling: Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Float: Required within scope of practice
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
• Residence: Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of LPN / LVN experience, including experience within the last year
• Medical Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) not required for LVN/LPN but noted for RNs
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required unless assigned to Psych, OR, Rehab, or true Med Surg)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) required
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
• National certification verification as applicable
• Annual skills checklist

Additional Requirements

• Must sign and date specialty job description annually
• Compliance with facility-specific health attestation and employee health instructions including uploading required health documentation (TB, flu vaccine/exemption, OSHA respirator medical evaluation) via designated portal prior to start
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of offer acceptance and approved before start
• Candidates with latex allergies must notify prior to start
• Candidates must not submit applications to more than one job at a time

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly; start date is the date needed on the job
• Schedule is based on a 36/48 hour pay period unless otherwise noted
