Unit Description

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only, must be immediately available throughout assignment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only, must be immediately available throughout assignment

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Current/valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, unexpired US passport, or other state-issued ID) with front and back copies
• 2 professional references verifying most recent experience within last 24 months
• Resume/Application demonstrating at least 1 year of current and relevant experience
• Unit-specific skills checklist
• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:

  • SSN trace, aliases, counties lived/worked
  • County, nationwide, federal district, and national federal criminal searches
  • FACIS screening and OFAC check
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Sex offender search within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, verifying ability to perform job duties and free of communicable diseases
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (Marijuana testing not accepted)
• Immunization or proof of immunity for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or declination on file)
  • Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, plus annual TB questionnaire
• Fit mask test within one year prior to start (Alpha Pro Tech N95 or 3M 8210)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (10/01 - 3/31); masking required if declining
• COVID vaccination required or facility-specific exemption with weekly testing if exempt
• COVID booster required for eligible travelers or exemption with weekly testing
• Completion of facility-specific orientation and training documents including:

  • Orientation packet acknowledgment
  • Confidentiality and harassment prevention training (updated annually)
  • Fingernail hygiene policy
  • Elder & dependent abuse quiz
  • Hazardous drug risk acknowledgment
  • Implicit bias training
  • Aerosol transmissible diseases training
  • Employee health TB risk assessment and questionnaire
  • WorkDay time instructions
  • Sexual harassment prevention training
• Badge photo meeting facility standards (passport style, plain background, no hats/masks/filters)

Competency Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80%)
• Unit-specific competency exam (minimum 80%)
• Fall prevention competency exam (minimum 80%)

Additional Notes

• ACLS is not required for dialysis or LVNs/LPNs in the ER unit (not applicable here)
• All certifications must be from approved organizations (AHA for BLS/ACLS) and immediately available throughout assignment
• Background checks and verifications must meet facility-specific standards and timelines

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized cardiovascular ICU setting with a defined 13-week travel contract, requiring strong acute care experience and compliance with comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
