Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Float
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–7:15)
- Patient Ratios:
- Days and weekends: 1:5-6
- Nights: 1:6
- Float Requirements:
- Float within scope to medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology units
- Unit assignments communicated if pre-assigned; otherwise, call in up to 1 hour before shift for assignment
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (every other weekend), plus holiday rotation
- Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13-week contract
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days off per 13-week contract
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- IV start certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree (cannot pend at start)
- Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
- Unit-specific competency exams, including oncology competency if assigned to oncology units
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel of substances
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept 30–Apr 1)
- Fit mask testing annually (N95 respirators required; facial hair must allow proper fit)
- Required facility-specific documents including:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire
- Confidentiality Form
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
- TB Questionnaire (annual)
- Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
- Orientation modules completion (approx. 16 hours via online platform)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Employment application and two professional references (supervisors preferred)
