Trauma/Neuro ICU RN

Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Ventura, California
• 13-week assignment
• Night shift: 4x12 hours
• Patient ratio: 1:2
• Patient population: Adolescents to geriatrics
• Float: Yes, within service line
• First-timers accepted if minimum requirements are met

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• STICU - Surgical Trauma Intensive Care (3 years of experience)
• STICU - Surgical Trauma Intensive Care experience within the last year
• Neuro ICU experience
• Experience with Cerner
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course or TCAR - Trauma Care After Resuscitation

Preferred Qualifications

• CPI
• MAB

• Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Multi-system organ failure
• IV insulin protocols
• GI surgery
• Chronic/acute renal failure
• CVVHD/CRRT/Shunts and Fistula Care
• Accessing ports
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care/PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Continuous IV sedation/procedural sedation administration
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVA/acute stroke management
• External ventricular drains (EVD)
• Hypothermia protocol/Artic Sun
• ICP monitoring
• Post neurosurgery management
• Spinal cord injury/TBI
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
• Assist with management of BiPAP/CPAP
• Care of ventilated patient/ventilator management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Phlebotomy
• Surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac
