Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Auburn, New York
  • Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
  • 36 hours guaranteed
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday
  • No blocked scheduling
  • Local candidates accepted
  • Ratio: 1:4–5
  • Medication system: Pyxis

Unit / Patient Population

  • Step-Down unit
  • Diagnoses include CHF, post-heart catheterization, post-vascular procedures, respiratory failure requiring BiPAP / CPAP / Vapotherm, and cardiac dysrhythmias

Unit Procedures / Expectations

  • Post-heart cath care
  • TR bands
  • Post-vascular procedure monitoring
  • Frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Stepdown (2 years of experience)
  • Stepdown experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS

  • Mumps immunity status must be provided
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity documentation or signed declination if negative titer
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination
  • Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire
  • Automated dispensing cabinet security acknowledgement for Pyxis access
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
  • Competency exam
  • Conscious sedation competency exam
  • Pass/fail telemetry assessment on first day of orientation
  • NIH Stroke Scale training annually
  • NURSYS verification
  • State license verification
  • National certification/verification as applicable by profession
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication as applicable
