Medical Surgical RN (Medical Surgical Oncology)

Overview

• Location: Lakewood, California
• Employment type: Travel/Contract

Schedule

• Shift: Day, 3x12 hours (7:00 to 19:00)
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Float: Required
• Weekend coverage: Yes

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum of 2 years of oncology experience, with oncology experience within the last year
• Surgical oncology experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• Experience with Epic

Background and Screening

• Criminal background check: Within 1 year of start, updated annually. 7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, and federal searches. Open criminal cases and DUI hits within the last 5 years are automatic cancellations.
• Drug screen: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)

Health Requirements

• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start, updated annually
• N95 fit test: Within 1 year of start, renewed annually (PAPR documentation accepted only with proof of a failed N95 fit test)
• TB: Negative PPD, TSpot, or QuantiFERON within 1 year of start. If positive, a negative chest X-ray within 4 years and an annual TB questionnaire are required.
• Tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap: Required; a pertussis titer showing immunity is accepted if the vaccine cannot be obtained for a health reason
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella: Positive titer, or 2 vaccines after age 1. Negative or equivocal titers require 2 boosters (may start with the 2nd booster pending).
• Hepatitis B: Vaccine series or declination required; titer is not accepted
• Hepatitis C: Titer strongly preferred; declination accepted if necessary, with a stated reason
• Influenza: Vaccine required by 12/5 for the 2026-27 season, or a signed declination. Candidates who decline must follow seasonal masking guidelines, and universal masking applies on grounds for candidates who are not fully vaccinated for COVID and do not have a current flu vaccine.
