Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Oakland, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatric focus)
Contract Length: 22 weeks

Job Requirements

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • California RN License
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years Pediatric RN experience
  • Minimum 1 year Hematology/Oncology Clinic experience
• Preferred Qualifications:

  • APHON certification (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses)
  • Master's degree highly preferred

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, nationwide and sex offender searches, education verification, and others as required within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB tests (2 required, with specific timing and documentation)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccination requirements including booster 2 and seasonal vaccine or approved exemptions
• Drug testing: Standard 9 panel excluding THC, within 30 days of start and every 2 years thereafter
• Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication tests required on first day of orientation
• Unit-specific competency exams and core clinical competency exams with passing scores required annually
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, ACLS, CHEMO certification, and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment

Compliance Training & Modules

• Completion of UCSF Learning Management System modules prior to or within the first week of assignment
• Annual Cyber Security Awareness Training and Quiz
• HIPAA Healthcare Provider Module and Quiz (advanced modules for nursing and allied health staff)
• UCSF-specific COVID-19 preparedness and vaccination documentation
• Annual TB Questionnaire and other facility-specific forms

Experience & References

• Minimum 2 years Pediatric RN experience (highest required years of experience)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
• Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment
• Current and updated resume covering last 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Verification of 7 years of work history required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies including parking, uniform, and COVID-19 protocols
• Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine are available but require advance approval
• Pass/fail testing on telemetry and medication is mandatory; failure after three attempts results in cancellation
• Fit testing for masks may be completed onsite if necessary, with specific mask models required
• Some certifications and competencies may be unit-specific and required prior to or during assignment
