Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Technologist

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)


Job Requirements & Details

  • Certifications Required:
    • ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification
    • Post-primary credentials in Computed Tomography (CT) (hard stop)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years preferred
    • First-time travelers accepted
  • Work Schedule:
    • Options for 4x10 or 5x8 shifts (specify preference)
    • Every 3rd weekend required
    • No on-call duties
    • No block scheduling
  • Additional Duties:
    • Must be available to float to cardiac departments as needed
  • Equipment & Systems:
    • Experience with GE and Philips Nuclear Medicine cameras
    • EPIC charting system experience required
  • Dress Code:
    • Black scrubs required
  • Licensing:
    • May submit application with a pending New Jersey license

Job Scope

  • Perform a range of exams from diagnostic to therapeutic Nuclear Medicine studies
  • Work primarily in Radiology/Cardiology departments with some floating to cardiac units

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • Must include all aliases and locations worked/lived in past 7 years
  • Nationwide and state-specific checks required
  • Candidates cannot start with open cases or pending charges
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks as applicable

Certifications & Training

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required as applicable to role/unit
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Chemotherapy certifications may be required depending on assignment
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for certain adult critical care and emergency units
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication competency required
  • Annual education sign-offs and facility-specific orientation required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer required)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel minimum)
  • Fit testing for respirators as required by job duties
  • Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for all RNs and LPNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable units
  • Color blindness testing required if job tasks require color discrimination

Documentation & History

  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
  • Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start)
  • Two professional references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • Skills checklist updated annually (Aya requirement)

Facility Specific Policies

  • Floating policy must be completed for every new assignment or site transfer
  • Vendor medical clearance form required for candidates with history of positive TB
  • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory
  • Annual education and safety training required (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)
  • Facility-specific attestations and questionnaires (e.g., flu vaccine exemption, latex allergy, elder abuse education) must be completed prior to start
