Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ED RN) - Portland, Oregon

Position Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (1700-0530 and 1900-0730)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
  • Start Date: Every Tuesday (allow 2-3 weeks for compliance)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years nursing experience
  • Travel Experience: First-time travelers not accepted; 1 year travel experience required if recent EPIC experience
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • Call Requirement: No
  • Floating: Yes, within hospital only (no floating to sister hospitals)
  • Block Schedule: Not open to block scheduling unless otherwise stated

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs, plan and coordinate interventions and consultations.
  • Provide procedures and treatments including moderate & deep sedation, ultrasound, intubation, cardioversion, D&Cs, sexual assault exams, CPR, and imminent deliveries.
  • Patient population includes trauma, acute stroke, STEMI, psychosis/psychological emergencies, sepsis, and patients with alcohol/drug abuse or complex medical histories.

Required Certifications

  • BLS (AHA Provider only, traditional AHA; e-cards must be employer verified)
  • ACLS (AHA Provider only, traditional AHA; instructor and alternative certifications not accepted)
  • PALS (AHA Provider only, traditional AHA; not required for Cardiac Cath Tech and Cardiac Cath RN)
  • TNCC (preferred)
  • NRP (AHA/AAP only, if applicable)

Required Background and Compliance Checks

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day to obtain facility ID badge.
  • Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start.
  • National Sex Offender Search within 30 days prior to start.
  • Education verification (primary source) required for RNs.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start.
  • Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required.
  • Employment application with at least 7 years of work history required.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam (required for Panda Transport only; otherwise Aya standard within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent masks)
  • Tdap vaccine or signed declination (Tdap preferred)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or QGOLD acceptable)
  • TB questionnaire required
  • Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with facility-specific declination options)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/01/2025)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing for patient encounters and signed declination form
  • COVID-19 exemption allowed only with medical/religious exemption form; patient-facing staff not allowed exemption

It was a great hospital to work at and very huge. It’s a really busy facility. I was hired to work with the vaccination part but we were behind the scenes while the nurses proceed with giving out the shots to the people of Oregon www

Cons

Cost of living was very expensive and seeing those homelessness in the city was an eye sore as well
