Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Pediatric experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Floating within scope required
- Locals accepted
- Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (RQI and HeartCode Complete acceptable)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (RQI and HeartCode Complete acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (RQI and HeartCode Complete acceptable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for NICU experience
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for all ER candidates
- State License: Permanent Connecticut RN license required; temporary license may be allowed with approval
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for psych positions
Work Environment & Other Details
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Charting system: EPIC
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- Parking available
Competencies & Exams
- Competency Exam: 80% or higher within a year of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Tele, Stepdown, ICU, and ER with 80% pass rate
- Core Parts I, II, III: Required and must be updated annually
- OSHA Mandatory: Required and updated annually
- HIPAA Competency: Required annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start, signed by NP, PA, or MD, documenting ability to work full day without restrictions
- Fit Mask Respiratory Test: Annual, specific mask brands accepted
- Tdap Vaccine: Required within 10 years of start (TD and declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Within 1 year of start, updated annually
- TB Questionnaire: Required for past positive TB, updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing: 10 Panel within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination: Proof required or approved medical/religious exemption
- COVID-19 Vaccine (Dose 1, Fully Vaccinated, Booster): Preferred
Documentation & Verification
- Two professional references within the past 2 years, must have directly supervised the candidate
- Employment application covering 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps
- Skills checklist within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Work history verification for the last 7 years (attestations accepted case-by-case)
- Background checks including 7-year search, aliases, nationwide and statewide searches, sex offender registry, OFAC, and international checks if applicable
- Education verification required (diploma may be used as placeholder)
- Photo for badge (chest up, solid background, no others in photo)
- Signed facility-specific agreements including confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict of interest, contractor checklist, and pediatric medication calculation exam
This position requires compliance with all listed certifications, health requirements, and documentation prior to start.
