Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D RN – Nights)

Job Details

• Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 hours accepted; every other weekend (EOW) required; self-scheduling available
• Start Date: January 5, 2026, or ASAP
• Patient Ratio: 1:2, up to 1:3 for lower acuity patients
• Experience: Minimum 1 year required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Floating: Required within the specialty
• On-Call: Not required
• Holidays: Required as scheduled

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Maryland Registered Nurse (MD RN) license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• STABLE certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Additional certifications may be applicable based on unit/job description:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification for highest level of education
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• Work history verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for L&D and pediatric units)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates as applicable
• TB questionnaire if positive TB result
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
• COVID-19 vaccination no longer required for this location but documentation collected for tracking

Facility-Specific Documents

• Passport-style photo for badge
• Signed job description prior to start
• Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
• Dress code reviewed prior to start
• Badge/security ID application completed within 72 hours of signing contract
• Latex allergy questionnaire completed by all candidates

Competency Exams (as applicable)

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
• Color blind testing
• General competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
• Age-specific competency exam (score ≥ 80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥ 80%)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete all required documentation and compliance items within specified timeframes, often within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Floating within the specialty is required.
• Weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory as scheduled.
• First-time travel nurses will not be considered for this position.
