Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • No return to office (RTO) within the first two weeks
  • No call requirement
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Float to Medical/Surgical (MS), ICU, and ED Waiting to take MS patients as needed
  • Patient ratio: 1:6
  • Must have 1.5 years of MedSurg or PCU experience
  • Must hold a Michigan RN License
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Certification
  • Strong post-surgical competencies required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1.5 years of MedSurg or PCU experience (higher value from description)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required for ED and Rapid Response Team (RRT) if applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required if working in Pediatrics or ED
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - required if working in Pediatrics
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ED
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - required

Licensure

  • Michigan RN License required
  • Primary source online verification required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search back to age 18
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • MI LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (check unit description)
  • Education verification required (copy of highest degree or diploma)
  • Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements (wet signature required)
  • One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
  • Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required onsite for certain roles
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (must include pertussis) - historical immunization records accepted, no exemptions
  • Negative TB test (PPD or Q gold/Tspot) within 45 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions
  • Hepatitis B - titer, series, or facility declination required
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions
  • 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for candidates starting after November 1, or approved medical/spiritual exemption

Additional Notes

  • Must be comfortable with patient ratios and floating to different units as needed
  • Strong post-surgical nursing skills are essential
  • Weekend work every other weekend is required
  • No call shifts during the contract period
