Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)

Location: Pomona, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (can screen 1 year)
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Shift Requirements:
    • Weekend requirement: 2 weekends every 6 weeks (night shift weekends can include Fridays)
    • No on-call required
    • No floating outside scope of practice
    • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Ratios: 1:2 patient ratio
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (client can cancel up to 3 shifts during the assignment)
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Special Requirements:
    • Vaginal exam ability/experience
    • Baby care ability/experience
    • Experience with at least 300 births

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) - must be renewed every 2 years
  • NRP Advanced (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - must include all 11 components, updated every 2 years
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS for L&D)

Special Skills & Competencies

  • Must be able to perform vaginal exams
  • Baby care experience required
  • Must have experience with a minimum of 300 births
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required annually (minimum 80% score)
  • Competency exam required annually (minimum 80% score)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check covering last 7 years, including:
    • Social Security address check (last 15 years)
    • National criminal search
    • Sex offender search
    • Education verification
    • International searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification required
  • California Medi-Cal Exclusion Search required within 30 days prior to start
  • Complete 15 years of work history required on application (including locations and gaps)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, cleared to work without restrictions
  • Fit mask test required (specific approved masks)
  • Tdap vaccine or declination within 10 years (Td not accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
  • TB questionnaire required for all candidates
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella (vaccination or titer; history of disease not accepted)
    • Hepatitis C (titer accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Annual flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required
  • COVID-19 vaccination or facility-specific declination required

Facility Specific Documents & Training

  • Must complete and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
    • Orientation packet acknowledgment
    • Fingernail hygiene policy
    • Timekeeping acknowledgment
    • Acknowledgement of responsibility
    • Standard of care acknowledgment (for specific units)
    • TJC attestation (updated annually)
    • Job description acknowledgment
    • Training questionnaire
    • Modules assigned via WorkRamp LMS (passing score >80%)
    • Drug Diversion Module (required for all RNs and LVNs)
  • Badge photo required on plain blue background within 72 hours of signing
  • Systems access request form required within 24 hours of signing (updated annually)
