Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Seattle, Washington
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR RN) with strong Neuro experience
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 5
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Population: Orthopedic sports (limited total joints), minimally invasive arthroscopic and laparoscopic cases, Robotics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Plastics. Experience with Neuro, Spine, Thoracic, and Vascular is a plus.
- Work Environment: Very busy, high acuity academic environment; Magnet and Teaching Center
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 4 years preferred (higher end of 3-4 years range)
- Specialty Experience: Strong Neuro experience required; willingness to circulate cardiac and transplant cases (cardiac skills not mandatory)
- Additional Skills: Preferred experience in multiple service lines such as Cardiac and Robotics
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Weekend Requirement: To be determined
- Floating: Floating within hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
- Charge Duties: May be required
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 1 week
Certifications Required
- Mandatory: BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Preferred/Additional Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification (depending on unit)
- Certifications must be AHA approved and verifiable
Compliance & Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start
- Must include checks such as FACIS Level 1, OIG, SAM, Sex Offender Search, and Washington State WATCH search
- Education verification required (diploma/transcripts acceptable for RNs)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen required (not facility-mandated but required by agency)
- Physical exam and fit mask test required prior to start
- Various competency exams required (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, conscious sedation for GI Lab/Endo)
Licensing & State-Specific Requirements
- Must hold an active Washington State RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
- Multi-state licensed nurses must complete Washington-specific suicide prevention training and demographic attestations prior to starting
- Primary source verification of license required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (1 vaccine acceptable if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of full vaccine series and positive titer or signed waiver if declining
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted at this facility)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking
Additional Information
- Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)
- Charting system: EPIC
- Average daily census: 50-75 patients, 28 rooms
- Parking: Available (daily fee applies)
- Performance evaluations requested at end of assignment (for this location)
- Badge photo required prior to start (DMV style, no selfies)
- Email setup and learning modules will be provided before start date
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong Neuro skills who are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity, academic hospital setting and are willing to float within the hospital. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
