Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Transplant Unit) - Travel/Contract
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Unit Description
- Medical Surgical/Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU)
- 36-bed unit providing medical surgical/telemetry and progressive care to adult pre- and post-liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal transplant patients, and intestinal rehabilitation patients.
- Adolescent patients (age 15+) are on the unit but cared for by core staff only.
- Patient-to-nurse ratios: 1:5 days / 1:6 nights (night ratio may rarely be 1:7).
- Drips required on all floors.
- Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including potential float to Bellevue campus and various other units.
Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Transplant/Medical Surgical)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a large, urban hospital (must have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center if first-time traveler).
- Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they meet the above Level I Academic Medical Center experience requirement.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required
- NIH Stroke Certification - Preferred
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) - Preferred
- Skills:
- EPIC charting experience required
- Ability and willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Other:
- Must be prepared to float frequently
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed by six weeks
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat)
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Additional Information
- RTO (Request Time Off): Up to two weeks permitted; must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion.
- Team Composition: Includes CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs on certain floors.
- Facility: Teaching hospital with 718 acute-care beds, known for complex patient care and cutting-edge research.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start (includes nationwide checks and education verification)
- SAM and OIG checks required and updated every 30 days
- State-specific registry checks (Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry)
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required
- Annual physical exam and fit mask test required
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray documentation
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption accepted)
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years (or 1 if not a current traveler)
