Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse, Emergency Room (ER)
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Return to Office (RTO): Up to 5 days max, no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
  • Floating: Mandatory float within scope as needed by the facility
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Emergency Department (ED)
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred
  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrub Color: Any color allowed
  • Parking: Adjacent parking garage available

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required
  • Facility-specific forms and rules of behavior must be completed

Additional Notes

  • This is a mandatory float position; flexibility to work in different units within scope is required
  • No block scheduling available
  • No call or holiday time off allowed
  • Locals preferred but travel candidates accepted
