Registered Nurse (RN) - Employee Health (Contract)

Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice to ambulatory care patients. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, prioritize patient needs, and educate patients and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Deliver care using Relationship Centered Care principles and nursing process.
• Assess and evaluate patient needs, applying critical thinking in care management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team on care plans.
• Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members.
• Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Patient Experience

• Role model Relationship Centered Care practices such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, and Discharge Wrap Up.
• Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
• Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
• Address patient/family concerns and escalate as needed.
• Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Quality and Safety

• Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify barriers to quality.
• Demonstrate clinical skills essential to patient safety.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and nursing research.
• Follow high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
• Escalate safety hazards according to institutional protocols.
• Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement.

Operations

• Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
• Coordinate supply and inventory management with nursing leadership.
• Escalate resource deficits appropriately.
• Use cost-effective approaches to patient care resources.
• Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Current New York State RN License
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 2 years RN experience, including 2 years in medicine
• EPIC experience highly preferred
• Travel experience required for travel positions (1 year), not required for per diem
• Preferred education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Associate degree considered with relevant experience or active BSN matriculation

Schedule

• Options include 3x12, 4x10, or 5x8 shifts

Contract Length

• Approximately 9 weeks
