Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: PM (7 PM - 7 AM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments across all age groups (Pediatric to Geriatric).
• Deliver competent and appropriate nursing care to medical/surgical patients, including emergency procedures and equipment use.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of nursing processes, patient progress, and education.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility, knowledge of policies, and identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
• Promote patient and family-centered care by responding professionally and courteously to patients, families, and coworkers.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, including use of two patient identifiers and safe transfer/body mechanics techniques.
• Provide individualized care for surgical patients, considering procedures and anesthesia types, and assess patient understanding.
• Take responsibility for prioritizing and directing patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.
• Conduct pre-operative and postoperative assessments and education, involving patients and families actively.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for surgical patients.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Physical Requirements

• Must meet physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety standards.

This position is ideal for a medical/surgical RN with solid clinical skills, strong assessment and documentation abilities, and a commitment to patient safety and education in a travel nursing role.
