Job Summary
Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to assist healthcare providers in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, troubleshooting assays, evaluating test accuracy, assisting with result interpretation, and supporting operational activities to optimize testing. Work involves using multiple computer systems to retrieve and report information. May work with minimal supervision and assist with specimen collection. Strict adherence to safety protocols when handling infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a biological science
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to perform in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work closely with others
- Flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments including off-shifts, holidays, on-call, and weekend assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems
