Job Description

  • Assist with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under supervision of RNs and/or physicians in the Endoscopy Department.
  • Assist with patient needs assessment and follow through with designated plans.
  • Care for, handle, reprocess, and store endoscopy procedural equipment.
  • Ensure safe and efficient turnover of procedure rooms.
  • Assist with minor procedures as assigned.
  • Set up, maintain, and protect sterile fields.
  • Prepare and assist providers during procedures; perform cleanup post-procedure.
  • Ensure only necessary equipment is in patient and procedure areas.
  • Comply with appropriate PPE use (gowns, gloves, masks, eye shields).
  • Participate in pre-procedure Time Out process.
  • Follow correct cleaning processes for room equipment post-procedure.
  • Stock and restock procedure room supplies and equipment; order supplies as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and coordinate with biomedical department.
  • Perform surgical counts per department policy.
  • Assist with development of department supply PAR levels.
  • Assist RN with patient transfer and positioning in procedure and recovery areas.
  • Dispose of sharps appropriately and handle specimens correctly.
  • Notify charge nurse of any issues or concerns.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and hand hygiene practices.
  • Follow surgical attire requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician, with experience within the last year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Endoscopy Technician Certification.
  • Graduation from high school or obtaining a General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting.
  • Experience as one of the following: Anesthesia Technician, Patient Care Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, or Medical Assistant.
