Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 12-hour variable day/night shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• On call/call back possible with minimum 2-hour call back pay
• Low census hours (up to 36 hours) may be unbillable but call back pay applies if called in

Unit Information

• Medical and Pediatrics (travelers do not take pediatric patients)
• Patient conditions include respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological conditions (seizures, MS, chronic back pain), gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, infectious diseases, and acute alcohol withdrawal
• Typical patient ratios:

  • Days: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • Nights: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Trauma Level II experience highly preferred)
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Contractors must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy (mandatory compliance)
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
