Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Palliative Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel Contract

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour variable shifts (days and nights)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Float: Required to float to any inpatient unit and other Central region locations as needed
• On Call/Call Back: May be low censused and put on call; call back minimum is 2 hours

Unit Information

• 10-bed unit
• Staffing ratio: 2 RNs and 1 CNA per 10 patients (5:1 RN ratio)
• Primary cases: Palliative, Comfort/Hospice, Medical/Surgical

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (WI RN)
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical experience REQUIRED
  • 1 year inpatient Palliative Care experience preferred
• Charting: Epic experience required
• Skills: Medical/Surgical skill set required; experience in Palliative Care/Hospice helpful

Additional Information

• Must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility (Radius Rule)
• Must be resilient, able to manage change well, and socially adaptable
• Scrub colors: any color allowed
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy (mandatory compliance)
• Contract eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours
