Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical (Travel)

• Shift Requirements:

  • 8-hour and 12-hour variable night shifts (NOCS)
  • Must be flexible with shift assignments
  • 12-hour night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • 8-hour night shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Hours: Guaranteed 36-48 hours per week (OT after 48)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Float Team Role:

  • Floating within skillset to various units including observation, cardiac, medical, surgical, ortho/neuro, inpatient rehab, and transitional care
  • Facility aims to keep traveler in 1-2 like units but may require floating to others
• On Call/Call Back: None

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years Medical-Surgical experience (higher value between 1-2 years)
• Skills:

  • Experience with venipuncture and Cardizem administration required
  • Epic charting experience within the past 2 years required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Active RN or Compact license
  • NIHSS certification preferred at submission; must be completed before end of orientation (provided at no cost)
• Other:

  • Must start medical portion of compliance within 48 hours of accepted offer (24 hours for quick start)
  • Radius rule: Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Professionalism: Hard worker, good time management, resilient, adaptable to change, and social
  • Dress code: No bright colors or character prints for scrubs

Staffing Ratios

• Day shift: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• PM shift: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• Night shift: 1 nurse to 6 patients, occasionally 7
