Location

  • Prescott, Arizona

Assignment Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • 12 hours per day
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Travelers are included in the holiday rotation
  • Schedule is set by the scheduler and published 6 weeks out
  • Shift assignment is communicated about 2 hours before the shift by text message

Unit Overview

  • Float pool assignment across Med Surg Tele and PCU
  • May include inpatients holding in the ED
  • Charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Nurse aides are used
  • Nurses must be able to interpret telemetry strips

Patient Population

  • Geriatric patients
  • Orthopedic patients
  • Post-procedural patients
  • Post-MI patients
  • Post-cardiac cath patients
  • CABG post-op day 3 to 4

Required Qualifications

  • Current state RN license
  • 2 years of experience in med/tele
  • 1 year of PCU experience
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 2 attempts before signing the contract
  • Must be comfortable managing titratable drips

Clinical Skills and Equipment

  • Titrated or set-rate drips may include heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin
  • Respiratory support may include CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow in PCU
  • CPAP or BiPAP may be used at night in Med Surg

Orientation

  • 8 hours of general hospital orientation
  • 12-hour shift on West Med Tele
  • 12-hour shift on PCU at West

Additional Notes

  • No call or standby requirement
  • Travelers must be flexible
  • Solid-color professional scrubs are currently required; navy scrubs will be required starting in October
