Job Details

- Hours per Day: 10 (4 x 10-hour shifts)

- Location: Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
Unit/Department Information
- Department: Cardiac Cath Lab (separate from IR and EP)
- Number of Suites/Labs: 6
- Average Cases per Day: 4–20 cases (1:1 ratio)
- Typical Patient Diagnoses: STEMI, NSTEMI, Heart Failure, Congenital heart disease, TAVR, MitraClip, Peripheral vascular cases
- Team Composition:
- Regular cases: 3-person team (1 RN, 2 RTR Cath Lab Techs)
- Call teams: 4-person team
- Cardiologist On-Call: 24/7, year-round
- Charge Nurse Role: Acts as resource and coordinates calls; nurse on-call acts as charge nurse
Required Certifications & Skills
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Experience:
- Ability to read cardiac strips
- Occasional titration of drips
- EMR/Equipment: EPIC, GE and Philips monitors, McKesson system
Scheduling & Call Requirements
- Shift Length: 10-hour day shifts (4 days per week)
- Call Shifts:
- 6–8 call shifts per month (primary and backup call)
- Weekend call every 6–7 weekends (Friday 5:30 pm to Monday 6:00 am)
- Additional weekend backup shifts as circulator for emergent cases (24-hour shifts, about once per month)
- Holiday call (e.g., Easter backup call shift)
- Floating: No floating required; experience in IR is a plus but not mandatory
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation: 2–3 shifts in the Cath Lab
- Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours
Additional Notes
- Scrubs are provided
- Drug-free campus: negative drug screen required for all panels
- Local placement policy applies to clinicians living within 50 miles
- Call off policy: Equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks with no penalty or pay requirement
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Cardiac Cath Lab experience of at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Ability to read cardiac strips
- Experience titrating drips
- Ability to work required shifts and call schedule
- Must pass drug screening and comply with drug-free workplace policy
