Registered Nurse Float Pool Job

Location

  • Prescott, Arizona

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Holidays included in the staff rotation
  • Schedule is set by the scheduler and published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time
  • Must be flexible
  • May be placed on standby during shifts when staffing is excessive

Unit Overview

  • Float pool covering ICU, MedSurg Tele, and PCU across both campuses
  • May also include inpatient holds in the ED
  • First to float

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • At least 1 year of ICU experience
  • Must be able to titrate drips
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract

Clinical Skills / Patient Care

  • Must be comfortable managing common titratable drips, including heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin
  • Must be able to interpret telemetry strips
  • Experience with geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac cath, post-MI, CABG post-op day 3–4, and groin-site care patients is relevant

Equipment / Monitoring

  • CPAP and BiPAP used at night in MedSurg
  • BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high-flow used in PCU
  • Monitor techs cover PCU and MedSurg Tele

Orientation

  • 8-hour general hospital orientation
  • 12-hour shift on West MedTele
  • 12-hour shift on West PCU

Additional Notes

  • Nurse aides are used in all settings
  • Charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Solid-color professional scrubs are currently required; navy scrubs will be required later
  • Candidates must be within 50 miles
  • Candidates may not have worked full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
