Travel RN assignment in PCU
Backfill contract
13 weeks
Night shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
36 hours per week
Quantity: 2

Unit / Department

Cardiology surgical and medical PCU level of care
2nd and 3rd floor
52 PCU beds, 6 IMC beds, 14 CVICU beds
PCU and IMC are a shared unit, but travelers will not float to IMC unless skills are verified by the educator

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
Cardiology experience
Experience with open heart surgery patients
Experience with heart failure patients
Experience with post-catheterization laboratory patients
Experience with cardiac valve patients

Preferred Qualifications

LVAD experience
Meditech proficiency

Schedule / Logistics

Target start date: 3/3 or within the first 2 weeks of March
Call: must be available until 4:00 AM if placed on call
Floating: may be required to float within the system
Weekends: 4 weekend shifts per month required, with Friday and Saturday counted as weekend shift nights

Clinical Focus

Cardioversions
Radiologist-guided thoracentesis
Watchman procedures
Cath lab patients
EP patients, including pacemakers and ablations
Open heart patients
Advanced heart failure patients
LVAD placement and readmissions
GI patients occasionally, including pill cams and colonoscopies

Unit Environment

Team-oriented unit with emphasis on helping PCTs and RNs
Strong focus on falls and skin precautions
PCU standards of care charting

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs
No fleece jackets
