Overview
- Travel assignment in Nashville, Tennessee
- Unit: 6th, Post-Op Med/Surg
- Main building
- 34 beds
- Patient ratio: 6:1
- Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Med Surg (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Chest tube management
Unit Details
- Tech support is available on day shift and night shift
- Unit secretary coverage is 7a-7p
- Equipment includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCD’s, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, and iMobile communication technology
- Floating: contract labor is first to float; rotation is used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
- Dress code: navy scrubs, tops and bottoms
Clinical Experience
- Med/Surg experience
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask
- Ability to start IVs
- Basic wound care
- Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
Patient Care Expectations
- Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members
- Bedside shift report
- Ability to make personal connections with patients and include them and their family members in the plan of care
