RN - Telemetry

Location: San Jose, California Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Employment Type: Travel

Unit Details

• Unit: 3CV (East and West), 3rd floor, main hospital campus
• Beds: 80 total (40 east, 40 west)
• Staffing:

  • Day and night shifts each include a CNC/charge nurse, 10 nurses, 1.5 breaks, and 3 CNAs.
  • Day shift has 1 UC sitter provided when needed. Night shift has a sitter provided when needed.
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 telemetry patients, 3:1 PCU
• Equipment: Alaris pumps, telemetry boxes, Hoyer lift, wound VACs, immobile, PCS pumps, glucometer, mobilab, and others
• Floating Scope: 3CVWE, 3CVW, and med-surg units, when needed

Patient Population and Procedures

• Angiograms, post-op day 3 open hearts, stroke patients, PCIs, and various post-op surgeries
• Dysphagia swallow screens, TR band maintenance, chest tubes, wound VACs, and rhythm interpretation

Requirements

• License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience:

  • 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

• PCU, telemetry, or stroke experience
• Meditech (EMR) experience

Schedule

• No on-call requirement
• Rotating weekends, with no guaranteed set schedule

• Unit Guidelines: Expectations are reviewed when staff arrive on the unit. Topics include patient care experience, quality, safety, HAI prevention, and documentation requirements.
