Registered Nurse - Infusion
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Work Schedule: Full Time
Weekend Requirement: Weekends are by appointment only; may be asked to work a few hours on a rotating schedule
On Call: No call required
Floating: None
Nurse/Patient Ratio: 5:1
Dress Code: Any color scrubs
Job Summary
Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in an infusion setting focused on non-chemotherapy infusions. Manage patient care using the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administer medications and treatments following protocols, monitor for side effects and effectiveness, and document all care provided. Educate patients, families, and caregivers based on assessed learning needs.
Patient Population
- Non-chemotherapy infusion patients
- Experience with IVs is necessary
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Infusion nursing experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Practice independently with awareness of clinical situations
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers
- Meet applicable nursing competencies and standards of practice
- Provide patient and family education
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given
