Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a busy urban Emergency Department (ED) trauma center. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain professional accountability consistent with nursing standards and state regulations.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Evenings (1:00 PM – 1:00 AM)
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Weekend hours as required
- No call requirements
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
- Block schedules are not accommodated
- Time off requests (RTO) must be made on the back end of the assignment; no RTO in the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment

- Number of beds: 68
- Patient ratio: Typically 4:1; may vary during surges
- EMR system: EPIC
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and Regional Burn Center
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- TNCC
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with trauma and pediatric patients
- High acuity patient care experience preferred
- Comfortable managing 200+ patients per day
Skills and Abilities
- Strong clinical expertise in emergency nursing
- Excellent communication and human relations skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Determined, decisive, and flexible personality fit
Physical and Working Conditions
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel assignments from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Professional attire required; black scrubs preferred; jeans and unprofessional attire are not allowed
