Registered Nurse (PICU) - Travel Position

Location: Houston, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Information

Unit size: 14-22 beds
Patient ratio: Medical/Surgical 4:1
Typical procedures:
- Cleft palate repair
- Appendectomy
- Chest tube management
- Lumbar punctures
- Seizure management
- Noninvasive cardiology (no neurosurgery or stroke cases)
- Thoracic surgeries including thoracotomy/thoracoscopy and pectus bar implants
Services include neuro, ortho, general surgery, and thoracic cases
EMR system: Meditech
Floating areas: NICU level 1 or 2 only
Dress code: Royal blue scrubs
Weekend requirement: 4 weekend days every 4 weeks
No on-call required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification

Preferred Qualifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is preferred but not required

Supportive and collaborative team environment
Full team approach where everyone helps each other
Day shift staffing: CNC and 4-6 nurses, unit secretary preferred CNC free
Night shift staffing: CNC and 4-6 nurses, CNC free preferred
