Job Summary
Registered Nurse Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Madison, WI. The position provides preoperative preparation and postoperative recovery care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric surgical patients. Responsibilities include immediate post-anesthetic assessment, pain management, recovery from anesthesia, discharge teaching, and coordination of patient care.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day/evening 10-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday within department hours of 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week.
- Assignment Dates: 11/30/2026 through 03/01/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or recovery room, including acute care experience within the last 3 years; Wisconsin or compact-state Registered Nurse license; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Basic Life Support (BLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); required electronic health record experience; and travel nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Community hospital experience and Level I or Level II trauma experience.
- Additional Information: Provides care for surgical patients across bariatric, orthopedic, outpatient total joint, general surgery, spine, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, and related specialties. Responsibilities include airway assessment, ventilated-patient care, arterial line management, central line care, procedural sedation monitoring, pain management, dysrhythmia recognition, cardioversion, and postoperative recovery. Electronic health record experience using Epic is required. A telemetry examination must be passed before the assignment start date.
