Job Title: Medical Physicist
Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: 308 Deep South Farm Road, Suite 100, Blairsville, GA 30512
Department: Radiation Oncology – Blair
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Shift: Day Shift
Position Overview
The Medical Physicist will provide clinical physics support within the Radiation Oncology department, ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiation therapy. The role will work closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and other clinical staff to support treatment planning, quality assurance, equipment performance, radiation safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee radiation therapy treatment planning, dosimetry, and physics calculations to ensure accurate radiation dose delivery.
- Conduct daily, monthly, and annual quality assurance (QA) for linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, imaging equipment, and other radiation therapy equipment.
- Perform patient-specific QA, treatment plan verification, chart checks, and independent dose calculations prior to treatment.
Collaborate with radiation oncologists and dosimetrists to develop, review, and optimize treatment plans, including IMRT, VMAT, 3D conformal, and stereotactic treatments, as applicable.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Physics experience within Radiation Oncology.
- Master’s Degree in Medical Physics or a related field required.
- Must be ABR Certified or ABR Eligible.
- AHA BLS certification required.
- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy physics, treatment planning, dosimetry, and quality assurance.
- Experience with radiation therapy equipment and treatment planning systems preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Candidate/Assignment Requirements
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
- Must be available to work the required Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule.
- Must meet all required education, certification, and experience requirements.
Holiday Requirement
Candidate must work 2 of the 3 major holidays:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
Candidate must also work 1 minor holiday:
- Friday after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Eve
- New Year’s Eve
