Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities in the cardiopulmonary system. This role includes assessing patient conditions, setting up and operating ventilators and other equipment, and monitoring patient responses to therapy.

Responsibilities

• Reads prescriptions and evaluates patient information to assess needs for treatment.
• Determines the suitable method for administering inhalants and evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders.
• Sets up and operates respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring optimal therapy parameters.
• Monitors patients' physiological responses to therapy and performs necessary adjustment to equipment.
• Conducts pulmonary function tests and performs bronchopulmonary drainage.
• Maintains accurate documentation of therapy provided in patient charts.
• Assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responds to code situations.

Required Experience

Two years of experience in respiratory therapy is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT)
• State License (as required by Pennsylvania)
• NRP may be required for certain facilities
