Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse - Night Shift. This role is based in a dedicated Obstetric unit specializing in labor, postpartum, and surgical deliveries. The successful candidate will provide care to obstetric, antepartum, triage, and postpartum patients, often working alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position requires a flexible, experienced RN ready to jump into a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week scheduled.
• Schedule: Rotational shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, scheduled six weeks in advance with consideration of sleep schedules.
• Certifications Required: American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Intermediate Fetal Monitoring.
• Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with the ability to titrate IV drips including Pitocin, magnesium, and insulin. Must be comfortable with first-time travelers and capable of working independently. Experience in an Obstetric, antepartum, triage, postpartum, and surgical environment is essential.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit includes 7 labor and delivery beds, 12 postpartum beds, 8 surgical beds, and 3 triage bays.
  • Provides care for high-risk obstetric patients, including those with gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, and postpartum surgeries such as hysterectomy and bladder repairs.
  • Responsibilities include caring for patients during deliveries, administering medications, and managing telemetric monitoring with GE/Corometrics systems.
  • RNs may be required to troubleshoot supplemental oxygen, read electrocardiogram strips, and place patches for telemetry.
  • The unit has OB scrub techs, a dedicated on-call obstetrician, neonatal staff available overnight, and in-house anesthesia 24/7.
  • Floating to other units such as neonatal intensive care, medical/surgical, or emergency department may be required at times.
  • Scrubs will be provided.
  • Candidates must comply with all departmental protocols and workflows.
