Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN), Step Down Unit. This role provides comprehensive nursing care for patients in a step-down setting, including assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of individualized care. The Registered Nurse (RN) promotes patient safety, education, evidence-based practice, professional development, and a supportive healing environment.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing school; current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), Health Safety Institute, or American Red Cross; at least one year of neuro nursing experience; proficiency in collaboration, verbal and written communication, judgment and critical thinking, organization, planning, problem-solving, quality, reliability, and safety and risk management.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting; Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; professional certification in a related nursing specialty; relevant specialty certifications, such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), as required by the assigned unit.
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, every other weekend, for a 13-week assignment.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include administering medications safely, educating patients and families about health promotion and disease management, coordinating care for an assigned group of patients, supporting quality improvement and shared governance activities, integrating current nursing research into practice, completing required education, and supporting the learning of new employees and students.
