Description

Job Summary

Surgical Technologist Operating Room Open Heart. This position supports adult open-heart procedures in a Level I trauma environment, with responsibility for maintaining sterile technique, preparing surgical instrumentation, and assisting with complex cardiovascular procedures. The assignment requires on-call availability, weekend rotation, holiday coverage as needed, and the ability to respond within 30 minutes when called.

Job Details

Required Qualifications: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular operating room experience; open-heart experience; Level I trauma experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Electronic health record experience using Epic; experience with coronary artery bypass graft procedures, aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve procedures, mitral valve replacement, ventricular assist devices, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, endovascular aortic repair, angioplasty and stenting, and other complex cardiovascular procedures.
Schedule: Day shift, 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week; alternating days off, one to two call days per week with a 30-minute response requirement, and every third or fourth weekend. Holiday coverage is required as needed.
Additional Information: The surgical technologist may care for patients with COVID-19. Floating may be required as needed. Required vaccinations include COVID-19 vaccination, with medical or religious exemptions and declinations permitted, and influenza vaccination, with medical or religious exemptions permitted. The clinical review process may include a case-by-case clinical screening and an interview before final selection.
