Opportunity:

RN ICU/PCU Mixed Acuity

Job Details:

• Work three 12-hour shifts per week on a rotating schedule with various days of the week
• Weekend shifts required based on unit needs, with 6-8 weekend shifts per contract
• No on-call required
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 to 2:1 for ICU level patients and 3:1 for PCU level patients
• Float within scope to meet facility needs between like units and divisions as needed
• Provide care for critically ill ICU level patients and acutely ill PCU level patients requiring advanced cardiac care
• Patient population includes unstable pre-heart transplants, heart failure requiring close monitoring or vasopressor support, acute myocardial infarctions, unstable post-interventional cardiology procedures, post-arrest targeted temperature management, and patients requiring invasive hemodynamics
• Nursing assignments made on a shift-to-shift basis taking patient acuity and staff skill level into consideration
• Charting system: Epic (preferred experience)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, emergency medications, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, and additional critical care competencies
• Special equipment includes Swan-Ganz catheters, ventilators, and temporary pacemakers
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and more

This facility is a large health system operating a mixed-acuity, medically-focused unit with 24 staffed beds dedicated to providing superior care for both critically ill and acutely ill patients. The unit is supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more. The organization is committed to ensuring each patient receives personalized, high-quality care through skill-based nursing assignments that match staff expertise to patient acuity levels.
