Description

L&D RN Needed For Birthing Pavilion -

The Birthing Pavilion is a LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum Unit) – we expect all of our nurses to be competent in all areas of the LDRP model

We do about 1300 deliveries a year. There are 21 rooms, a 2 bed triage room, and 2 operating rooms.

The schedule is 12 hours shifts, day and night rotation. Shifts are 7-7. Traveling staff is used to fill the “holes” in the schedule. We do typically ask what shift they “prefer”, if any. *we should talk if they are requesting staying strictly to one shift or another*.

We work with pedi and OB residents, a midwifery team, MD generalist team, Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) or high risk OB team, and pedi attendings. This means that we do not do our own cervical checks, FSE placements etc (they may be responsible for these types of things if they are not at an Academic facility.

To the best of our ability we follow AWHONN staffing guidelines which includes nurse:patient ratios of 1:1 for Pitocin and active labors/intermittent monitoring, a 1:2 for cervical ripening and a 1:1 with Pitocin, 1:2 for high risk medication including Magnesium Sulfate and Insulin drips, and 1:3 for Antepartum and Postpartum couplets.

Hospital laundered scrubs are provided due to our work in the OR.
