Position: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Adult)

Shift Details

• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Availability to work every other holiday if needed

Licensure and Certifications

• Active New York Single State RN license is required (NY is not a Compact state)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Preferred
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred

Clinical Skills Required

• IV therapy including blood product administration and central line care
• Phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs
• Administration of IV vasopressors
• CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Management of cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
• Cardiac monitoring with the ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Emergency care for adult and pediatric patients, including trauma cases such as gunshot wounds and orthopedic injuries
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and triage processes

Unit Overview

• Patient Ratios: 1:5 for adults and geriatrics across all emergency diagnoses
• Special Equipment: Bair hugger, rapid infuser, safe patient handling equipment
• Patient Age Groups: Adults and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary Support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, Pharmacy, Radiology, and Rapid Response Teams
• Floating: Must be willing to float within skillset as required
• Scrub Color: Any combination of navy blue and white
