Description
Position: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit
Location: City, State
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role will involve providing exceptional care to patients with complex medical needs in a combined ICU/PCU setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong stepdown/PCU experience and possess the key skills necessary for patient management.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to patients within the Progressive Care Unit.
- Maintain a patient ratio of approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients.
- Utilize IV therapy skills and telemetry monitoring for patient assessment and management.
- Document patient care and progress using the Epic charting system.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit nursing.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
- Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
- Ability to float to different units with equivalent or lower acuity as needed.
- Willingness to work weekdays with occasional weekends and rotating holidays.
Skills and Certifications
- Proficient in IV therapy and phlebotomy.
- Experience in central line care and management.
- Knowledge of telemetry and cardiac monitoring.
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Familiarity with gastrointestinal and renal interventions, including feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis management.
Patient Care Environment
This position is situated within a dynamic unit that typically has a daily census of 20 patients, occupying 22 beds. The patient population includes individuals receiving kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants, as well as those presenting with conditions such as acute kidney injury and uncontrolled diabetes.
Interdisciplinary Support
You will collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals, including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams to ensure quality patient care.
