Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Unit Director and/or Nursing Supervisor, coordinates & supervises the patient care team on an assigned unit. The Charge Nurse (CN) is responsible for: daily operation of the unit (s), supervision & assignment of all patient care team members. The CN assesses the overall needs of the unit related to patient acuity & staffing and coordinates with the unit director & nursing supervisor. The CN collaborates with the Nursing Supervisor & Unit director for participation in quality improvement, assists with the assessment of educational opportunities, and provides hands-on patient care coaching. The CN is responsible to meet all, but not to perform on a daily basis, job duties as outlined in their respective unit Registered Nurse job description, when required by patient or unit needs, as well as those listed in this job description. 

What you will do in this role:

• Coordinates daily unit operations in collaboration with other members of the patient care team
• Manages unit personnel activities
• Actively promotes positive intra & interdepartmental activities of the unit
• Ensures that patient care needs are met in a competent and timely manner
• Consistently exhibits professional behavior which demonstrates a positive attitude and which serves as a role model to staff
• Reflects HCA values and its ethical and compliance principles in his/her daily activities (Code of Conduct).

What qualifications you will need:

• Registered Nurse
• Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
