Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Maryland

Start Date: July 20, 2026

Location: Maryland

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 5:1 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends. Weekend coverage required with shifts varying per unit need. 40 hours orientation provided. Assignment length up to 365 days maximum.

Highlights:

• 37-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric populations
• Case mix includes respiratory distress, sepsis, UTI, cellulitis, changes in mental status, pain management, generalized weakness, and abnormal lab values
• Unit includes 11 chronic tracheostomy ventilator beds with trach collar management and suctioning
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
• Specialized procedures include peritoneal dialysis (PD), continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), and ventilated tracheostomy management

Requirements:

• Valid Maryland or Compact State RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience; previous travel experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS, NIHSS, 16-hour Maryland trauma course, and TCRN preferred
• Level I or Level II trauma experience strongly preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with 5:1 patient ratios
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Required clinical skills: IV insulin protocols, accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line blood draw, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), pre/post thoracic surgery care, tracheostomy care/management including vented trachs, wound care/wound vac, and renal failure management
• Additional preferred skills: blood product administration, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin administration, ABG interpretation, PCA pumps, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and surgical drain management
• Willingness to float within facility and within scope of practice
