Job Opportunity – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: November 16, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Patient ratio 2-3 patients per nurse, 30-bed unit census, float to other units as needed

Highlights:

• Level III NICU providing specialized care for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above
• Comprehensive case mix including respiratory distress, glucose management, and surgical/cardiac intervention support
• EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication administration
• Multidisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
• Advanced procedures including arterial line management, central line care, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Collaborative environment with strong interdisciplinary team support

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of NICU Level III or Level IV experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Proficiency in EPIC documentation and SBAR communication methods
• Experience with neonatal care for patients less than 24-28 weeks gestation
• Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with umbilical artery and vein catheter management
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill neonates with complex medical conditions
• Administer IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids using Pyxis medication system
• Manage and monitor ventilator settings and respiratory support equipment
• Perform arterial line management and central line care procedures
• Implement neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions
• Manage various feeding methods including bottle, breast, and gavage feeding
• Place and manage oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
• Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC system
• Communicate effectively with families and healthcare team using SBAR methodology
