Description
Start Date: November 16, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 hours per week, day shifts, weekdays and rotating weekends, rotating holidays
Highlights:
- Progressive Care Unit with diverse medical patient population including renal, hepatology, cardiology, and pulmonology diagnoses
- Patient ratio of approximately 1:3, allowing for quality patient care
- Epic EMR system utilized throughout facility
- 12-month assignment with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and lift teams
- Advanced skills utilized daily including telemetry monitoring, IV insulin and heparin protocols, central line management, and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Floating within the health system may be required to support organizational needs
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of application)
- Minimum 1 year of PCU, Step-Down, IMC, or similar progressive care experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications (current and valid)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry interpretation
- Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required (one must be from a manager, director, or formal supervisor)
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
- Ability to complete Ohio state fingerprinting process urgently upon contract acceptance
Clinical Skills:
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Advanced IV therapy including peripheral line care, PICC line management, and port access
- Blood product administration and phlebotomy
- Titration of insulin and heparin drips
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Central line and chest tube care
- Wound care and wound VAC management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
Unit Overview:
This 24-bed progressive care unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a wide variety of medical diagnoses. The unit provides intermediate-level care for patients requiring closer monitoring than traditional medical-surgical units, with limited surgical interventions. Comprehensive support services ensure optimal patient outcomes and a collaborative work environment.
