Description
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MLS)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing across the general laboratory.
- Collect and process patient specimens accurately and efficiently.
- Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) draws.
- Follow established laboratory procedures, quality control standards, and safety protocols.
- Accurately document and report laboratory results in a timely manner.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and a clean and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the shared night and weekend on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications:
- ASCP certification required.
- MLT or MLS certification required.
- Experience in a general laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy/venipuncture.
- Experience performing arterial blood gas (ABG) draws.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work scheduled 10-hour shifts and participate in the on-call rotation.
Schedule:
- Four 10-hour shifts per week
- Shared night and weekend call
- Generally one on-call weekend per month
- Full schedule and call expectations will be discussed during the interview.
