What is a Monitor Tech?
Monitor techs are allied health professionals who specialize in monitoring and interpreting electrocardiograms of patients to detect irregular heartbeats, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest as it’s happening. They typically perform their job by sitting at a computer outside of patients’ rooms. Although monitor techs usually don’t provide any type of medical treatment, they’re valuable members of patients’ healthcare teams and do their part to help improve patients’ lives.
