NVRN-BC (ANVC) - Neurovascular Registered Nurse

The Neurovascular Registered Nurse certification (NVRN-BC) is designed for registered nurses specializing in neurovascular care. This certification demonstrates advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with neurovascular disorders such as stroke, aneurysms, and other cerebrovascular diseases.

Completion Time: Single session exam

Cost: $250 for ANVC members, $350 for non-members

Exam Format

The exam is offered in-person at several locations and dates throughout the year and also at the ANVC Annual Conference.

The NVRN-BC exam includes 200 multiple-choice questions covering topics such as neuroanatomy, pathophysiology, patient assessment, neurovascular treatments, and patient care management.

Eligibility and Certification Requirements

• A current, active RN license

• Experience in neurovascular or neuroscience nursing, a minimum number of 1,000 hours in clinical practice

• Completion of continuing education or specialized training in neurovascular nursing

• Passing a certification examination in neurovascular nursing, if offered by the certifying organization

Certification Process

• Gain relevant experience in neurovascular or neuroscience nursing

• Complete any necessary education or training programs focusing on neurovascular care

• Apply for the Neurovascular Registered Nurse certification through a recognized certifying body

• Meet the eligibility criteria and pass the certification examination, if required

Neurovascular Registered Nurse certification requires renewal every 5 years. This credential expires on January 31st of the fifth year.
