Whether you’re seeking staff or travel nursing jobs in New York, options should always be abundant. You can even combine the best of both worlds by working in New York City and traveling to the Hamptons for weekend getaways.

We pulled data from the 2022-23 U.S. News & World Report hospital rankings along with facility and employee reviews to create a list of 10 great healthcare employers in New York for your consideration. However, this list isn’t a top 10 but instead a compilation of facilities that offer unique employment opportunities for registered nurses (RNs) and allied health professionals. If you’re interested in pursuing a healthcare career in this diverse state, consider one of the great New York hospitals listed below.

1. NYU Langone Medical Center – Tisch Hospital

Located in New York City near the East River stands New York University (NYU) Langone’s 

Tisch Hospital. This 725-bed hospital is part of the larger NYU Langone Healthcare system. NYU Langone Hospital ranked as the No. 1 hospital in New York City and No. 3 in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s U.S. Best Hospitals Honor Roll for 2022-23. It’s also ranked nationally in 14 adult specialties, including these seven specialties that ranked in the top five nationwide:

Columbia University Medical Center is another NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with close ties to Cornell Medical Center, sharing rankings on U.S. News & World Report. This healthcare facility is in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City and is affiliated with Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons. 3. New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center

4. The Mount Sinai Hospital

Mount Sinai Hospital is another one of New York City’s hospitals in Manhattan. It ranked as the No. 3 best hospital in New York and nationally ranked No. 1 in Geriatrics and No. 6 in Cardiology & Heart Surgery in 2022-23. Additional awards and accreditations the healthcare system has received include:

6. North Shore University Hospital

North Shore University Hospital, also called NSUH, is a 764-bed hospital in Manhasset. NSUH is a Level I trauma center treating more than 90,000 people annually, per its website. Affiliated with Northwell Health, it nationally ranked in 11 adult specialties and rated high-performing in 14 procedures and conditions in 2022-23. Some areas of expertise at this facility include:

7. Saint Francis Hospital

Located in Roslyn on Long Island, Saint Francis Hospital is a 364-bed medical facility that earned an “A” Grade in patient safety from the Leapfrog Group in 2023. In July 2022, it received a five-star rating for patient satisfaction from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. U.S. News awarded Saint Francis Hospital national rankings in five adult specialties, including:

8. Long Island Jewish Medical Center

Long Island Jewish Medical Center, part of Northwell Health, is a 583-bed hospital in New Hyde Park. It provides world-class health services and earned its second consecutive Magnet designation for nursing excellence in 2020. Long Island Jewish Medical Center ranked nationally in six adult and nine pediatric specialties in 2022-23. It has earned many other awards and honors throughout the years, including:
